Designates as not confidential certain records of Legislative
Counsel more than 12 years old. Applies to records created or
received after June 30, 2001.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to confidentiality of records of the Legislative
Counsel; creating new provisions; and amending ORS 173.230.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. ORS 173.230 is amended to read:
173.230. { + (1) + } The Legislative Counsel or any employee
of the Legislative Counsel Committee shall not reveal to any
person not an employee of the committee the contents or nature of
any matter before the Legislative Counsel in the official
capacity of the Legislative Counsel, if the person bringing the
matter before the Legislative Counsel or employee designates the
matter as confidential. Matters not designated as confidential
may be revealed only as prescribed by the rules of the committee.
{ + (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section,
records of the Legislative Counsel described in subsection (1) of
this section that are more than 12 years old are not
confidential. + }
SECTION 2. { + The amendments to ORS 173.230 by section 1 of
this 2001 Act apply to records created or received by the
Legislative Counsel after June 30, 2001. + }
