SUMMARY

Prohibits state institutions of higher education from requiring
students to complete courses not related to major subject of
degree.
Applies to degrees issued on or after July 1, 2002.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to higher education.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 352. + }
SECTION 2. { + A state institution of higher education listed
in ORS 352.002 may not require a student to complete courses that
cannot be shown to be directly related to the major subject of
the degree the student is seeking. + }
SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act shall first apply to
degrees issued to students on or after July 1, 2002. + }
