  On page 1 of the printed bill, delete lines 4 through 8 and
insert:
  '  { +  SECTION 1. + }  { + (1) A person engaged in the
business of selling or renting goods or services may not impose
credit terms, finance charges or payment terms less favorable
than those charged or imposed in the person's ordinary course of
business solely on the basis that the person buying or renting
the goods or services holds a public office or is a candidate for
a public office.
  ' (2) Nothing in subsection (1) of this section prohibits a
person engaged in the business of selling or renting goods or
services from imposing the person's normal and customary business
policy regarding customer credit requirements.
  ' (3) As used in this section, 'public office' has the meaning
given that term in ORS 260.005. + } ' .
