A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to substitute teachers; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 342.805 to 342.937. + }
SECTION 2. { + (1) Each school district board shall adopt a
policy that establishes a procedure to notify a substitute
teacher of the removal of the substitute teacher from the list of
eligible substitute teachers maintained by the school district or
by an individual school within the school district.
(2) The notification to a substitute teacher of the removal
from the list required by subsection (1) of this section may
include the reasons for the removal of the substitute teacher.
(3) This section does not apply to a board of a school district
that employs substitute teachers who are represented by a
bargaining unit. + }
SECTION 3. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act first applies to
substitute teachers employed by school districts during the
2001-2002 school year. + }
SECTION 4. { + This 2001 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2001 Act takes effect July 1,
2001. + }
