                             SUMMARY

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Requires state agency to state costs of preparing and printing
reports and executive summaries of reports for submission to
Legislative Assembly.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to the cost of state agency reports to the Legislative
  Assembly; creating new provisions; and amending ORS 192.245.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 192.245 is amended to read:
  192.245. Whenever a law of this state requires a  { + state
agency to submit a + } written report   { - be submitted - }  to
the Legislative Assembly  { - , - }  { + : + }  { +
  (1) + } The   { - requirement shall be met by distribution
of - }   { + state agency may meet the requirement by
submitting + } an executive summary of no more than two pages
 { - sent - }  to every member of the Legislative Assembly and
one copy of the report to the office of the Speaker of the House
of Representatives, one copy to the office of the President of
the Senate and five copies to the Legislative Administration
Committee. This requirement does not preclude providing a copy of
any report to a specific legislative committee if required by
law.
   { +  (2) The state agency shall state on the cover of the
report and in the executive summary of the report:
  (a) The cost of services that the state agency incurred to
prepare the report and executive summary.
  (b) The cost of printing the report and executive summary.
  (c) The amount of consulting fees incurred to prepare the
report and executive summary. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + The amendments to ORS 192.245 by section 1 of
this 2001 Act apply to reports a law requires a state agency to
submit to the Legislative Assembly on or after the effective date
of this 2001 Act. + }
