Authorizes sign adjacent to state highway for certain nonprofit
entities if sign meets specified criteria.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to highway signs for nonprofit entities.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 377.700 to 377.840. + }
SECTION 2. { + Notwithstanding any provision of the Oregon
Motorist Information Act of 1971, a nonprofit entity that meets
the qualifications for tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code and that is located on a college
campus may erect a reader-board sign on private property adjacent
to a state highway if:
(1) The sign advertises only community and college events;
(2) The sign is on property that is within 1,000 feet of the
nonprofit entity;
(3) The sign is within the city limits of a city and the city
council has given permission for the erection of the sign; and
(4) The sign is on property adjacent to a segment of state
highway that the Department of Transportation expects to turn
over to the city within 10 years of the effective date of this
2001 Act. + }
