A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to census data.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) As used in this section, 'state agency' has
the meaning given that term in ORS 291.002.
(2) A state agency that applies to any federal agency for
grants, matching funds or any other moneys, the receipt or amount
of which depends on population, shall use data from the United
States Census Bureau 2000 census adjusted by the bureau by
statistical sampling to correct for overcounting and
undercounting.
(3) In enacting a reapportionment of the Legislative Assembly
as required under section 6, Article IV of the Oregon
Constitution, and in enacting an Act to adjust the district lines
for Representatives in Congress, the Seventy-first Legislative
Assembly shall use data from the United States Census Bureau 2000
census adjusted by the bureau by statistical sampling to correct
for overcounting and undercounting.
(4) This section applies only if the United States Census
Bureau officially releases data adjusted by the bureau by
statistical sampling to correct for overcounting and
undercounting. + }
