brief statement of the essential features of the measure as

Extends statute of limitations from 10 years to 12 years for
actions to recover real property and to recover possession of
real property.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to statutes of limitation; creating new provisions; and
amending ORS 12.050.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. ORS 12.050 is amended to read:
12.050. An action for the recovery of real property, or for the
recovery of the possession thereof, shall be commenced within
{ - 10 - } { + 12 + } years. No action shall be maintained
for such recovery unless it appear that the plaintiff, an
ancestor, predecessor, or grantor was seized or possessed of the
premises in question within 10 years before the commencement of
the action.
SECTION 2. { + The amendments to ORS 12.050 by section 1 of
this 2001 Act apply only to causes of action arising on or after
the effective date of this 2001 Act. + }
