SUMMARY

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Prohibits state and political subdivisions in state from naming
public building after private corporation. Exempts fixtures and
interior portions of building. Prohibits state from expending
lottery proceeds in political subdivision that names building
after private corporation. Exempts expenditure of lottery
proceeds for public education or for parks and natural resources.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to names of public buildings.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) As used in this section:
(a) 'Private corporation' has the meaning given that term in
ORS 359.010.
(b) 'Public building' means any building, land or other real
property owned by any department or agency of the State of Oregon
or any political subdivision in this state.
(2) The state and the political subdivisions in this state may
not include the name of a private corporation in the name of a
public building.
(3) The prohibition in subsection (2) of this section does not
apply to a fixture or an interior portion of a building.
(4) The state may not expend lottery proceeds in a political
subdivision that violates subsection (2) of this section.
(5) The prohibition in subsection (4) of this section does not
apply to lottery proceeds expended for public education or for
parks and natural resources under section 4 (5), Article XV of
the Oregon Constitution. + }
