procure all information technology for state agencies.

A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to information technology; appropriating money; and
declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 291.045 to 291.047. + }
SECTION 2. { + (1) The Oregon Department of Administrative
Services shall procure all information technology for state
agencies. The department shall integrate technological review,
cost analysis and procurement for all information technology
needs of state agencies to make procurement and implementation of
technology more responsive, efficient and cost effective.
(2) At the option of the Legislative Assembly and the courts,
the department may provide the services described in subsection
(1) of this section to the Legislative Assembly and the
courts. + }
SECTION 3. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Oregon Department of
Administrative Services, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2001,
out of the General Fund, the amount of $___, which may be
expended for the purposes of procuring all information technology
for state agencies under section 2 of this 2001 Act. + }
SECTION 4. { + This 2001 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2001 Act takes effect on July 1,
2001. + }
