  Prohibits insurer from denying coverage or refusing to renew
policy using credit scores based on credit check of person
applying for or renewing motor vehicle liability insurance.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to insurance.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 742. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + An insurer that issues motor vehicle liability
insurance policies may not use credit scores based on a credit
check of a person applying for issuance or renewal of a motor
vehicle liability insurance policy as a basis for denying the
person coverage or refusing to renew the person's policy. + }
  SECTION 3.  { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act applies to
applications for issuance or renewal of motor vehicle insurance
policies made on or after the effective date of this 2001
Act. + }
