A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to sex offenders.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Director of the Department of
Corrections, in consultation with the superintendent of the
Oregon State Hospital, shall conduct a study concerning the
feasibility of establishing a sex offender treatment pilot
program within an adult male correctional facility that would:
(a) Include effective screening or assessment of sex offenders
to identify those sex offenders who are most likely to benefit
from treatment;
(b) Provide treatment to those sex offenders who are most
likely to benefit from treatment; and
(c) Include long-term supervision and outpatient treatment for
a sex offender participating in the program after the sex
offender has been released from incarceration.
(2) The director and the superintendent shall develop criteria
by which the efficacy of the program would be measured.
(3) No later than July 1, 2002, the director shall report to
the appropriate interim committee the findings of the study. + }
