                             SUMMARY

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Provides that county may sell real property that was not
acquired by means of forfeiture for nonpayment of property taxes
in some manner other than by auction.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to sale of county property; amending ORS 275.030; and
  repealing ORS 275.230.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 275.030 is amended to read:
  275.030.  { + (1) + } Except as otherwise provided by statute,
the county governing body may, whenever it deems it to the best
interest of the county so to do, sell and convey, in the manner
provided for sale of county land under ORS 275.120, 275.140 to
275.160 and 275.180 to 275.260, any real estate owned by the
county and not in use for county purposes. The sale shall be
directed by an order of the county governing body entered upon
the journals.
   { +  (2) A county may sell real estate owned by the county as
provided in ORS 271.310 if the real estate was not acquired by
means of forfeiture for nonpayment of real property taxes. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + ORS 275.230 is repealed. + }
