Requires Department of Transportation and Department of Human
Services to conduct joint study of changing design of driver
licenses and driver permits issued to persons under 18 years of
age.
Sunsets January 2, 2003.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2001.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to a study of driver identification; and declaring an
emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) The Department of Transportation and the
Department of Human Services shall conduct a joint study of the
efficacy and cost of creating and implementing a system for
issuing distinctively marked driver licenses, driver permits and
identification cards to persons under 18 years of age.
(2) The departments shall report the results of the study,
along with any recommendations, to the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly. + }
SECTION 2. { + This 2001 Act is repealed on January 2,
2003. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2001 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2001 Act takes effect July 1,
2001. + }
