  Requires Legislative Assembly to appropriate sufficient moneys
to pay public officials compensation recommended by Public
Officials Compensation Commission.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to compensation of public officials; amending ORS
  292.920.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 292.920 is amended to read:
  292.920.  { + Each biennium + } the Legislative Assembly shall
 { - set the - }  { +  enact a law appropriating sufficient
moneys for the succeeding biennium to pay the + } salary for each
elected state officer, and all compensation for members of the
Legislative Assembly,   { - each biennium for the succeeding
biennium, - }    { - based on the recommendations of - }  { +  at
the levels recommended by + } the Public Officials Compensation
Commission { +  under ORS 292.912 + }.
  { - Notwithstanding other provisions of ORS 292.907 to
292.930, - }  The Legislative Assembly by law may lower the
salaries of members of the Legislative Assembly and elected
officials, other than judges, to take effect at any time { + , if
