  Requires that telecommunications utilities provide extended
area service between Portland EAS Region and Dayton Exchange if
approved by customers of Dayton Exchange.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to extended area telecommunications service.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 759. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + (1) Two-way, flat rate or measured extended
area service shall be provided by each telecommunications utility
providing service between the Portland EAS Region and the Dayton
Exchange, as described by EAS and exchange maps filed with and
approved by the Public Utility Commission, if approved by
customers of the Dayton Exchange.
  (2) The service provided for in subsection (1) of this section
may be implemented during the Portland EAS Region Expansion that
is pending on the effective date of this 2001 Act, but in no
event shall such implementation occur later than November 1,
2002.
  (3) Nothing in subsection (1) of this section authorizes a
telecommunications utility to discontinue two-way, flat rate or
measured extended area service in any exchange area where the
service was provided before the effective date of this 2001
Act. + }
