71st OREGON LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY--2001 Regular Session
Enrolled
House Concurrent Resolution 6
Sponsored by Representative CLOSE (at the request of Private and
Fraternal Organizations)
Whereas private and fraternal organizations in Oregon have
served their communities for over 100 years; and
Whereas a primary goal of private and fraternal organizations
is to help those who cannot help themselves; and
Whereas this year alone, private and fraternal organizations
across the state have raised moneys for medical research, youth
drug abuse prevention programs and education scholarships and
have donated countless hours to community projects; and
Whereas every year private and fraternal organizations in
Oregon have contributed millions of dollars to help communities,
charities and social programs; and
Whereas a greater burden would fall on limited government
resources if private and fraternal organizations did not provide
much needed services and funds in local communities; now,
therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-first Legislative Assembly,
acknowledge the positive role that private and fraternal
organizations play in our communities; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
private and fraternal organizations in Oregon as an expression of
our appreciation for how their volunteer efforts have enriched
the lives of so many Oregonians.
