Delete lines 2 through 11 of the printed concurrent resolution
and insert:
' Whereas Raymond G. (Ray) Gribling died March 22, 2001, at 75
years of age; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling exemplified the profession of lobbyist
for more than 22 years and was proud of the role he played in the
legislative process; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling dedicated his lobbying career to
maintaining the integrity of the legislative process; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling, through his straight talk, demonstrated
the importance and truth of the phrase, 'Your word is your bond';
and
' Whereas Ray Gribling was known for his sense of humor and
readiness to tell funny stories, of which he seemed to have a
supply without end; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling was, to those who knew him, a man who
always carried his share of the load; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling was a veteran of the Second World War,
having served honorably in the United States Navy for two years
aboard the battleship USS Alabama in the Pacific theater; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling had a successful 43-year career in the
telecommunications industry; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling believed strongly in community service,
demonstrating his commitment through his involvement as a youth
baseball coach, member of the Lions Club and 31-year member of
the board of directors of the Oregon Telco Credit Union; and
' Whereas Ray Gribling was born in Portland and was a loving
and devoted husband, father and provider for his family; now,
therefore,'.
Delete lines 13 through 20 and insert:
' That we, the members of the Seventy-first Legislative
Assembly, mourn the passing of one of the state's most respected
lobbyists, Raymond G. Gribling, express our sincere appreciation
for his integrity and the forthrightness with which he conducted
his business and extend our condolences to his family; and be it
further
' Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mary
Lou Gribling, Ray Gribling's wife of 53 years, as an expression
of the esteem in which we hold the memory of her husband.'.
