SENATE AMENDMENTS TO
SENATE BILL 50

In line 2 of the printed bill, after 'offices' insert '; and
declaring an emergency'.
In line 4, delete 'conduct a study to ex-' and insert '
promptly relocate'.
In line 5, delete 'amine the costs and benefits of relocating'
and delete 'offices' and insert 'headquarters'.
In line 6, delete the period and insert 'by the most
cost-effective means available. The department shall work in
consultation with the Oregon Department of Administrative
Services to minimize the costs of:
' (a) Moving all appropriate staff, furnishings and equipment
to leased quarters in Salem or the immediate vicinity of Salem
until a permanent headquarters is provided at a site in Salem
approved by the Capitol Planning Commission.
' (b) Disposing of the existing headquarters building in
Portland as provided in ORS chapter 270. Notwithstanding ORS
270.150, the net proceeds from the sale of the existing
headquarters building shall be used to pay or repay the costs
incurred in the relocation of the headquarters, with any
remainder returned to the General Fund.'.
In line 7, delete 'department may conduct the study in
consultation with the'.
In line 8, delete 'and other departments as necessary' and
insert 'shall develop a suitable plan to provide, or to assist
and approve the provision of, a permanent headquarters in Salem'.
In line 9, delete 'findings' and insert 'relocation actions,
costs and permanent siting plans'.
After line 10, insert:
' { + SECTION 2. + } { + This 2001 Act being necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and
safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2001 Act
takes effect on its passage. + } ' .
