  Requires Department of Transportation to issue only one
registration plate to certain vehicles. Permits display of single
registration plate on rear of certain vehicles.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to vehicle registration plates; creating new provisions;
  and amending ORS 803.525.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 803.525 is amended to read:
  803.525. The Department of Transportation shall issue two
registration plates for every vehicle that is registered by the
department except as otherwise provided in this section. Upon
renewal or when otherwise provided under ORS 803.555, the
department may issue stickers in lieu of or in addition to
registration plates. The following shall be issued plates as
described:
  (1) Only one registration plate shall be issued for a moped,
motorcycle { + , + }   { - or any - }  trailer { + , antique
vehicle or vehicle of special interest  + }registered by the
department.
  (2) Only one plate shall be issued for a camper that is
registered. Stickers may be issued in lieu of a plate.
  (3) Manufactured structures are as provided in ORS 820.500.
  SECTION 2.  { + Section 3 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS chapter 805. + }
  SECTION 3.  { + If a person has registered an antique vehicle
or a vehicle of special interest prior to the effective date of
this 2001 Act and has received two registration plates, the
person may display either one plate or both plates, but if the
person displays only one plate, that plate must be displayed on
the rear of the vehicle. + }
