CHAPTER ................
AN ACT
Relating to higher education students; and declaring an
emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + Section 2 of this 2001 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 30.260 to 30.290. + }
SECTION 2. { + (1) The State Board of Higher Education may
authorize higher education institutions under the control of the
board to provide liability insurance coverage for students
involved in off-campus experiential activities, including, but
not limited to, student teaching, internships, clinical
experiences, capstone projects and related activities.
(2) If commercial liability insurance coverage is not available
to higher education institutions, students participating in the
activities described in subsection (1) of this section shall be
considered to be acting within the course and scope of state
employment duties for purposes of ORS 30.260 to 30.300. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2001 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2001 Act takes effect July 1,
2001. + }
