  Creates crime of assisting runaway child. Punishes by maximum
of five years' imprisonment, $100,000 fine, or both.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to crime.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + (1) A person commits the crime of assisting a
runaway child if the person, knowing that the child is under 16
years of age and is running away from the child's home, provides
the child with transportation, money, clothing or shelter for the
purpose of helping the child to run away from home.
  (2) Assisting a runaway child is a Class C felony.
  (3) Subsection (1) of this section does not apply to a person
who:
  (a) Provides clothing or shelter to the child if a law
enforcement agency or the State Office for Services to Children
and Families has been notified; or
  (b) Transports the child from a place of danger to a place of
safety if a law enforcement agency has been notified. + }
