  Requires State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land
Surveying to accept graduation from   { - Oregon State University

meeting minimum education requirement for taking

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to professional examinations; creating new provisions;
  and amending ORS 672.099.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Sections 2 and 3 of this 2001 Act are added to
and made a part of ORS 672.002 to 672.325. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + In adopting rules pursuant to ORS 672.099 (2),
the State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying
shall approve graduation from an engineering curriculum of four
years or more with 16 quarter credits of surveying as the minimum
qualification for the fundamentals examination in land surveying.
Notwithstanding ORS 672.255, if a person meets the educational
requirements established under this section, the board may not
prescribe additional educational or work experience
qualifications for examination of the person unless the
qualifications are also required of persons who meet the
educational requirements established in ORS 672.099 (1). + }
  SECTION 3.  { + Passage and failure statistics of examinations
pursuant to ORS 672.090 (2), 672.097 (3) and 672.099 (3) shall be
published after each examination by the State Board of Examiners
for Engineering and Land Surveying in such a way as to allow the
public to compare the passage rates of graduates from the various
engineering and land surveying education programs within the
State of Oregon. + }
  SECTION 4. ORS 672.099 is amended to read:
  672.099. (1) As minimum evidence of qualification for the
fundamentals examination in land surveying, an applicant shall
provide evidence of graduation in an approved land surveying
curriculum of four years or more from a school or college
approved by the State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land
Surveying.
  (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) of this
section, the board shall adopt rules to consider an applicant's
work experience,  { + education + } or other relevant factors, in
lieu of a degree in land surveying as qualification for the
fundamentals in land surveying examination.
  (3) The fundamentals in land surveying examination shall be
prescribed by the board and shall be devoted to basic land
surveying subjects. The examination shall be written, or written
and oral.
