                             SUMMARY

  Increases face amount of certificates of insurance issued to
public safety officers and members of Legislative Assembly from
$10,000 to $100,000.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to certificates of insurance; amending ORS 243.015 and
  243.025.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 243.015 is amended to read:
  243.015. The Oregon Department of Administrative Services shall
enter into a contract with an insurance company licensed to do
business in this state to purchase insurance as described in ORS
243.025 for all   { - police officers and firefighters - }
 { + public safety officers as defined in ORS 181.610  + }in the
service of public employers  { + and all members of the
Legislative Assembly + }.
  SECTION 2. ORS 243.025 is amended to read:
  243.025. When the Oregon Department of Administrative Services
has awarded the contract under ORS 243.015, every   { - police
officer and firefighter - }   { + public safety officer as
defined in ORS 181.610 + } in the service of a public employer
 { + and every member of the Legislative Assembly + } shall be
issued, pursuant to the contract provided for in ORS 243.015, a
certificate of insurance in the face amount of   { - $10,000 - }
 { + $100,000 + }, covering death caused by injury sustained
during working hours as a   { - police officer or firefighter - }
 { + public safety officer or a member of the Legislative
Assembly + } or death resulting from such an injury within 365
days.  The insurance certificate shall set forth the names of any
beneficiaries whom the insured may designate.
