  of Senator Tony Corcoran and Representative Al King)
 
 
  Whereas Peg Jolin died February 24, 2001, at 48 years of age;
and
  Whereas she spent most of her adult life living in Oregon and
working as a community activist; and
  Whereas she served eight years in the Oregon House of
Representatives, in four regular and six special sessions; and
  Whereas she served five years in the Oregon Senate, in three
regular and two special sessions; and
  Whereas during her time in office, Peg Jolin won placement of
warning signs throughout the state advising women not to abuse
alcohol during pregnancy; and
  Whereas she is remembered for her consumer advocacy and strong
support of schools and families; and
  Whereas she was honored by a major newspaper for being '
constituent-intensive'; and
  Whereas she fought for the 'rural ethic' and small town values;
and
  Whereas she was active in local issues that included leading a
neighborhood effort to persuade Lane County to make road
improvements; and
  Whereas Peg Jolin was recently elected executive director of
the Eugene - Lane branch of the American Association of
University Women; and
  Whereas she was known for her toughness and good humor; now,
therefore,
 
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
 
  That we, the members of the Seventy-first Legislative Assembly,
mourn the passing of former state Senator and state
Representative Peg Jolin, extend our condolences to her family
and express our sincere appreciation for a woman who worked
tirelessly for the people of her communities and the state; and
be it further
  Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Peg
Jolin's husband, Dennis, and her son, Sean, as an expression of
the esteem in which we hold the memory of our honorable late
colleague.
