  In memoriam: Former state Representative Michael H.  McCracken,
1943-2001.
 
                      CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  Whereas former member of the Oregon House of Representatives
Michael H. McCracken died July 1, 2001, at 58 years of age; and
  Whereas Mike McCracken devoted his career to improving health
care service in Oregon, particularly the development of the
Oregon Health Plan with the integration of mental health care;
and
  Whereas Mike McCracken served Oregon and the citizens of Albany
as state Representative, winning contested elections three times
beginning in 1982; and
  Whereas Mike McCracken served as Administrator for the Senate
Committee on Health Insurance and Bio-ethics in 1989, guiding the
development of improved health care access for the poor into the
Oregon Health Plan, 1989 Senate Bill 27; and
  Whereas Mike McCracken was born in Eugene and obtained his
higher education at the University of Oregon; and
  Whereas Mike McCracken served as a clinical assistant professor
at Oregon Health Sciences University; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
  That we, the members of the Seventy-first Legislative Assembly,
mourn the passing of former state Representative Michael H.
McCracken, a passionate advocate for all Oregonians, extend our
condolences to his family and express our sincere appreciation
for a person who worked tirelessly with consummate compassion to
better our shared community; and be it further
  Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Sue
McCracken, Mike's wife of 36 years, as an expression of the
esteem in which we hold the memory of our late colleague.
