To the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States
  of America, in Congress assembled:
We, your memorialists, the Seventy-first Legislative Assembly
of the State of Oregon, in legislative session assembled,
respectfully represent as follows:
Whereas throughout the nation's history women have participated
in the management and operation of family farms and ranches; and
Whereas farm women not only provide physical labor but also
serve as office staff, purchasing agents and marketing managers
for family farms and ranches; and
Whereas farm women promote local economies by participating in
building the net worth of family farms and ranches; and
Whereas farm women make significant contributions to the
communities in which they live; and
Whereas the management, production and marketing knowledge of
farm women helps to provide the United States and the world with
an abundant supply of safe and nutritious foods; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:

  (1) The Congress of the United States is respectfully requested
to direct the United States Postal Service to issue a first class
stamp honoring women in agriculture.
  (2) A copy of this memorial shall be sent to each member of the
Oregon Congressional Delegation.
