Printed pursuant to Senate Interim Rule 213.28 by order of the
President of the Senate in conformance with presession filing
rules, indicating neither advocacy nor opposition on the part
of the President (at the request of Senate Interim Committee on
Business, Education, and Consumer Affairs for Oregon Federation
of Independent Schools)
Whereas private primary, elementary and secondary schools in
the State of Oregon contribute to the educational welfare of our
children, youth and community; and
Whereas private school faculties, staffs and volunteers enhance
the diversity of our state by delivering education and a sense of
values to a wide variety of students; and
Whereas Governor John Kitzhaber has proclaimed February 1,
2001, as Private Schools Appreciation Day in Oregon and has
encouraged all citizens to join in its observance; now,
therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-first Legislative Assembly,
recognize and endorse the Governor's proclamation and express our
support for and appreciation of the contributions made by private
schools to the educational welfare of the State of Oregon.
