SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Directs Joint Legislative Audit Committee to conduct
performance audit of Employment Department and to report its
findings to Emergency Board by April 1, 2002.
JOINT RESOLUTION
Whereas the Employment Department administers employment
services and training programs to help unemployed individuals to
obtain jobs and underemployed individuals to obtain better jobs;
and
Whereas the department's services are funded by a number of
different public sources; and
Whereas current budget constraints emphasize the need to ensure
that the sources of funding are not duplicative and that the
department is using the funds appropriately; and
Whereas it is important for the Legislative Assembly to
ascertain whether the department is achieving its outcome
objectives; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
(1) The Joint Legislative Audit Committee shall conduct a
performance
audit of the Employment Department to determine:
(a) The appropriateness of job placement activity by funding
source; and
(b) Whether the department is meeting its outcome objectives.
(2) The Joint Legislative Audit Committee shall submit its
audit report to the Emergency Board by April 1, 2002.
