AN ACT

Relating to public employees prohibited from striking; creating new provisions; and amending ORS 243.736.

 

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:

 

          SECTION 1. ORS 243.736 is amended to read:

          243.736. (1) It shall be unlawful for any emergency telephone worker, parole and probation officer who supervises adult offenders, police officer, firefighter or guard at a correctional institution or mental hospital to strike or recognize a picket line of a labor organization while in the performance of official duties.

          (2) As used in this section, “emergency telephone worker” means a person whose official focal duties are receiving information through a 9-1-1 emergency reporting system under ORS 401.710 to 401.790, relaying such information to public or private safety agencies or dispatching emergency equipment or personnel in response to such information.

 

          SECTION 2. The amendments to ORS 243.736 by section 1 of this 2003 Act apply only to collective bargaining agreements entered into on or after the effective date of this 2003 Act.
