AN ACT
Relating to public employees prohibited from striking; creating
new provisions; and amending ORS 243.736.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. ORS 243.736 is amended to read:
243.736. (1) It shall be unlawful for any emergency telephone
worker, { + parole and probation officer who supervises adult
offenders, + } police officer, firefighter or guard at a
correctional institution or mental hospital to strike or
recognize a picket line of a labor organization while in the
performance of official duties.
(2) As used in this section, 'emergency telephone worker '
means a person whose official focal duties are receiving
information through a 9-1-1 emergency reporting system under ORS
401.710 to 401.790, relaying such information to public or
private safety agencies or dispatching emergency equipment or
personnel in response to such information.
SECTION 2. { + The amendments to ORS 243.736 by section 1 of
this 2003 Act apply only to collective bargaining agreements
entered into on or after the effective date of this 2003 Act. + }
