SUMMARY

Directs Department of Human Services to obtain independent
audit of pharmacy benefit management company used by medical
assistance program and to report results of audit to Legislative
Assembly.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to prescription drugs; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) Within 60 days after the effective date of
this 2003 Act, the Department of Human Services shall contract
with an organization with expertise in the area of prescription
drug benefit plans for an independent audit of the pharmacy
benefit management company used by the medical assistance program
to provide pharmacy benefit management services.
(2) The department shall report the results of the audit as
soon as the audit is completed to the Legislative Assembly or to
the Emergency Board if the Legislative Assembly is not in
session. + }
SECTION 2. { + This 2003 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2003 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
