                             SUMMARY

  Requires Office for Oregon Health Policy and Research to
establish prescription drug cost comparison program.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to prescription drug cost comparisons.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + (1) The Office for Oregon Health Policy and
Research shall establish a prescription drug cost comparison
program to develop a list of prescription drugs most frequently
used by individuals 65 years of age and older and a cost
comparison of those drugs. The list shall include no fewer than
25 of the prescription drugs most frequently used by individuals
65 years of age and older.
  (2) The office shall develop a survey to determine prescription
drug costs and shall obtain a list of every licensed pharmacy in
the state, including mail order pharmacies. The office shall mail
the survey to each pharmacy, inviting the pharmacy to participate
in the prescription drug price survey. The office shall compile
the results to show the most competitive price to the least
competitive price for each prescription drug included in the
survey.
  (3) The survey shall be conducted and the results updated
quarterly.
  (4) The office shall distribute a copy of the quarterly results
to all members of the Legislative Assembly, senior centers, the
Department of Human Services and to places frequented by seniors
and shall post the results on the office website on the Internet.
  (5) The office may add information to the survey that may be
relevant to consumers, including but not limited to the average
wholesale price of the drugs listed on the prescription drug
price survey and the dispensing fee charged to consumers by the
pharmacies that participate in the survey. + }
