brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Appropriates moneys to Department of Human Services for Retired
and Senior Volunteer Program.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2003.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to Retired and Senior Volunteer Program; appropriating
money; and declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + In addition to and not in lieu of any other
appropriation, there is appropriated to the Department of Human
Services, for the biennium beginning July 1, 2003, out of the
General Fund, the amount of $265,000 for the Retired and Senior
Volunteer Program. + }
SECTION 2. { + The Department of Human Services may expend
moneys appropriated under section 1 of this 2003 Act for the
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, including:
(1) Support services for seniors and persons with disabilities;
(2) Academic tutoring, mentoring and social support in public
schools and community colleges; and
(3) Community policing, crime prevention and safety for seniors
and people with disabilities. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2003 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2003 Act takes effect July 1,
2003. + }
