  Directs Department of Education to conduct study of
compensation for education personnel.
  Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2003.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to compensation for education personnel; and declaring
  an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + During the 2003-2005 biennium, the Department
of Education shall conduct a study of appropriate levels of
compensation for education personnel. Prior to September 1, 2004,
the department shall report to the Emergency Board on the results
of the study. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + This 2003 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2003 Act takes effect July 1,
2003. + }
