SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Suspends for 2003-2005 biennium requirement that public library
maintain actual operating expenditures for public library
services, or maintain percentage of property taxes dedicated to
local library purposes, in order to be eligible for state
financial assistance.
Declares emergency, effective on passage.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to financial assistance for libraries; and declaring an
emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + The provisions of ORS 357.770 do not apply to
the eligibility of a public library for state financial
assistance for the 2003-2005 biennium. + }
SECTION 2. { + This 2003 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2003 Act takes effect on its
passage. + }
