SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Reaffirms commitment to kindergarten through grade 12 education
by striving to allocate moneys to public education before
allocating any other moneys.
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Whereas every child is entitled to a free, high-quality public
education; and
Whereas an educated workforce is a vital component of a modern
economy; and
Whereas quality public schools constitute a sound investment in
the future of Oregon; and
Whereas public education is the most important service provided
by the State of Oregon; and
Whereas kindergarten through grade 12 education constitutes the
largest portion of Oregon's budget; and
Whereas the most important priority ought to be funded before
all others; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly, reaffirm our commitment to kindergarten through grade
12 education in this state by striving to allocate moneys to
public education before making any other allocation of moneys.
