                             SUMMARY

  In memoriam: Former state Representative Evelyn Dew (Eve) Nye,
1902-2003.
 
                      CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  Whereas former member of the Oregon House of Representatives
Evelyn Dew (Eve) Nye died March 19, 2003, at 100 years of age;
and
  Whereas Eve Nye graduated from Medford Senior High School and
the University of Oregon and spent her long adult life in service
to the people of the Rogue Valley; and
  Whereas Eve Nye served on the board of the Medford School
District for 10 years; and
  Whereas Eve Nye contributed to many charities and community
organizations, including Mercy Flights and Rogue Valley Manor,
and helped to found Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries; and
  Whereas Eve Nye was an early and ardent advocate for women's
rights and was active in the League of Women Voters; and
  Whereas Eve Nye represented the citizens of Jackson County in
the House of Representatives from 1959 to 1961; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
  That we, the members of the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly, mourn the passing of former state Representative Evelyn
Dew (Eve) Nye, extend our condolences to her family and express
our sincere appreciation for a person who served her community
and state with great enthusiasm and grace; and be it further
  Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Eve
Nye's brother, Irvin Lowell (Ike) Dew, and her son, Phillip, as
an expression of the esteem in which we hold the memory of our
late colleague.
