  Whereas it is the goal of Oregon's education system to achieve
academic excellence, provide a motivating environment to pursue
serious scholarship and expose students to experiences where they
can apply their knowledge and skills and demonstrate their
achievements; and
  Whereas the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is
the world's largest science competition and provides an
opportunity for the world's best young scientists and inventors
to come together to share ideas, showcase cutting-edge science
projects and compete for scholarships; and
  Whereas participants of the Intel International Science and
Engineering Fair demonstrate strong research capabilities,
scientific originality and creative thinking; and
  Whereas the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair
will be held in Oregon in 2004; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
 
  That we, the members of the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly, commend the participants in the Intel International
Science and Engineering Fair for their dedication to the pursuit
of scientific knowledge and their excellence in science and math.
