products.
HOUSE RESOLUTION
Whereas the use of tobacco products has had an adverse effect
on the health of numerous Oregonians; and
Whereas scientific research has shown that tobacco products as
currently formulated contain carcinogens and other substances
that are addictive and harmful; and
Whereas the State of Oregon expends significant amounts of
moneys every year providing medical treatment for health problems
caused by the use of tobacco products; and
Whereas it is in the best interest of the children and adults
of Oregon that the harmful effects of the use of tobacco products
be minimized as soon as possible; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the
Seventy-second Legislative Assembly, urge tobacco product
manufacturers everywhere to develop effective methods of reducing
the levels of carcinogens and other harmful substances in the
tobacco products they market.
