                             SUMMARY

  Expands Department of Justice Client Trust Account to include
all moneys Department of Justice receives on behalf of persons
and agencies.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to Department of Justice Client Trust Account; amending
  ORS 180.200.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 180.200 is amended to read:
  180.200. (1) The Department of Justice Client Trust Account is
established in the State Treasury, separate and distinct from the
General Fund. All moneys in the account are appropriated
continuously and shall be used by the Department of Justice for
payments to persons and agencies on whose behalf   { - civil
enforcement actions are commenced - }  { +  the department has
received moneys + }.
  (2) The trust account established by this section shall consist
of moneys   { - recovered - }   { + received + } by the
Department of Justice   { - in civil enforcement actions - }
 { + on behalf of persons and agencies + } and temporarily
credited to the account prior to distribution of the moneys in
accordance with law.
  (3) Subaccounts may be established within the Department of
Justice Client Trust Account when the department determines that
subaccounts are necessary or desirable.
  (4) Notwithstanding ORS 293.140, interest earned on moneys
deposited in the trust account or in any of its subaccounts shall
be credited to the account or subaccount.
