SUMMARY

Requires district school board that provides transportation for
school children to establish for each route stops that are at
least 1,000 feet away from residence of predatory sex offender or
person required to submit sex offender registration form.
Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2003.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to transportation routes for school children; and
declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + A district school board that provides
transportation for school children to and from school shall, to
the extent practicable, establish for each route stops that are
at least 1,000 feet away from the residence of a predatory sex
offender, as defined in ORS 181.585, or a person required to
submit a sex offender registration form under ORS 181.595,
181.596 or 181.597. + }
SECTION 2. { + Section 1 of this 2003 Act first applies to the
2003-2004 school year. + }
SECTION 3. { + This 2003 Act being necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2003 Act takes effect July 1,
2003. + }
