                             SUMMARY

brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Allows holder of journeyman plumber's certificate that has been
expired for two years or less to receive new certificate without
undergoing process for obtaining initial certificate.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to plumbers; amending ORS 693.075.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1. ORS 693.075 is amended to read:
  693.075. (1) The holder of a journeyman plumber's certificate
of competency is entitled to renewal of the certificate upon its
expiration if the person pays the renewal fee provided in ORS
693.135   { - within 90 days after expiration of the
certificate - }   { + on or before the last day of the month in
which the certificate expires + }.
  (2)   { - If a person fails to qualify for renewal of a
certificate under this section, - }  { +  A person who does not
renew a certificate as provided in subsection (1) of this section
may:
  (a) If the certificate has been expired for two years or less,
receive a new certificate by making written application to the
State Plumbing Board and paying the required annual fee plus a
penalty fee of $25. An applicant for a new certificate under this
paragraph is subject to any requirement or condition that would
have applied if the applicant had renewed the certificate.
  (b) If the certificate has been expired for longer than two

certificate { +  only + } if the person applies for, qualifies
for and is issued a certificate in the same manner as a person
who has not previously held a certificate.
