Prohibits local governments and districts from imposing or
increasing tax on motor vehicle fuel.
Takes effect on 91st day following adjournment sine die.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to taxation; and prescribing an effective date.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) No local government or district may impose
a tax on the sale, use or distribution of motor vehicle fuel.
(2) A local government or district that has imposed a tax on
the sale, use or distribution of motor vehicle fuel prior to the
effective date of this 2003 Act may not increase the tax.
(3) As used in this section:
(a) 'District' and 'local government' have the meanings given
those terms in ORS 174.116.
(b) 'Motor vehicle fuel' has the meaning given that term in ORS
319.010. + }
SECTION 2. { + This 2003 Act takes effect on the 91st day
after the date on which the regular session of the Seventy-second
Legislative Assembly adjourns sine die. + }
