                             SUMMARY
 
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Congratulates women's soccer team of University of Portland for
winning National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I
National Championship in 2002. Commends team and students of
University of Portland for contributions to their community, city
and state.
 
                      CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
  Whereas the women's soccer team of the University of Portland
won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I
National Championship in 2002; and
  Whereas the remarkable accomplishments of the female athletes
of the University of Portland include winning Olympic gold medals
and World Cup titles for the United States; and
  Whereas the University of Portland recently celebrated 100
years of providing service to the community of north Portland, to
the city of Portland and to the State of Oregon; and
  Whereas the University of Portland has educated the minds,
hearts and souls of thousands of Oregonians; and
  Whereas the staff, faculty and students of the University of
Portland have turned their capacious talents and energies to
helping the poor, ill, hungry and less fortunate citizens of
Oregon; and
  Whereas the University of Portland has sent forth its students
to be accomplished leaders in government, education, nursing,
engineering, business, the sciences, the arts, religion and
society at large; and
  Whereas the University of Portland has achieved national
prominence as a teaching university and brought shared glory to
neighbors and friends of north Portland, Portland and Oregon;
now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
  Oregon:
  That we, the members of the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly, congratulate and convey our best wishes to the cheerful
and creative women of the University of Portland Pilots National
Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Championship Soccer
Team, to the coach of the team and to the friends and family of
the team, and commend the team and the students of the University
of Portland for their selfless and delightful contributions to
their community, city and state.
