In memoriam: Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson, 1926-2003.
CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson, trusted aide to
Senators Gene Derfler and Jackie Winters, died on July 14, 2003,
at 76 years of age; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson served this nation in
wartime in the United States Navy; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson served this state for a
half century, first with the State Highway Department, then with
the Department of Transportation and then with the Legislative
Assembly; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson sacrificed the ease and
comfort of a sedentary life for his career with the State Highway
Department, moving his family around this state 17 times; and
Whereas the people of this state continue to benefit from
transportation facilities designed and built by Charles O.
(Chuck) Fredrickson; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson encouraged youths to
live active lives, devoting his time and energy to 4-H, Indian
Guides, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, DeMolay and the Soap Box Derby;
and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson was involved in
Toastmasters, traveling the country and winning awards for his
presentations; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson entertained others
through his performances with the Thorsmen; and
Whereas Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson maintained an active
involvement in dozens of civic and fraternal organizations and
volunteered many hours in the service of his church; now,
therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
That we, the members of the Seventy-second Legislative
Assembly, mourn the passing of public servant Charles O. (Chuck)
Fredrickson, who will be remembered for his honesty, work ethic
and compassion; and be it further
Resolved, That we extend our condolences to his family and
express our sincere appreciation for our friend who worked
tirelessly for the people of this state; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
Charles O. (Chuck) Fredrickson's wife, Francis, and their
children, Ron, Ken, Frank and Cheri.
