SUMMARY
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
Proposes amendment to Oregon Constitution to require annual
sessions of Legislative Assembly. Specifies that session in
odd-numbered year not exceed 120 calendar days and session in
even-numbered year not exceed 45 calendar days. Allows extensions
by affirmative vote of two-thirds of members of each house.
Refers proposed amendment to people for their approval or
rejection at next primary election.
JOINT RESOLUTION
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of
Oregon:
PARAGRAPH 1. Section 10, Article IV of the Constitution of the
State of Oregon, is amended to read:

Assembly shall be held { - biennially - } { + annually + } at
the Capitol of the State commencing on the second Monday of
{ - September, in the year eighteen hundred and fifty eight, and
on the same day of every second year thereafter, - }

commencing in an odd-numbered year may not exceed 120 calendar
days in duration and the session commencing in an even-numbered
year may not exceed 45 calendar days in duration.
(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, the session
may be extended for one or more periods of five calendar days by
the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members of each house.
If more than one period is affirmed, a subsequent period must run
consecutively with the prior period except for any intervening

PARAGRAPH 2. { + The amendment proposed by this resolution
shall be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection
at a special election held throughout this state on the same date
as the next primary election. + }
