                             SUMMARY
 
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Acknowledges sacrifices and praises courage of members and
families of members of Armed Forces of United States and public
safety agencies.
 
                        SENATE RESOLUTION
  Whereas our men and women in uniform endeavor to serve and
protect our country at home and abroad; and
  Whereas 2,700 brave Oregon reservists join almost 17,000 fellow
Oregonians in the defense of our nation; and
  Whereas Oregon's firefighters, police officers and emergency
medical technicians will be called upon to take up increased
responsibility for the protection and service of our local
communities; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Oregon:
  That we, the members of the Senate of the Seventy-second
Legislative Assembly:
  (1) Acknowledge the immense sacrifices of the members of and of
the families of members of the Armed Forces of the United States
and local fire, police and emergency medical agencies made in the
service of our state and nation; and
  (2) Praise the courage, dedication and professionalism with
which they defend our freedom at home and pursue democracy and
liberty abroad.
