Relating to Oregon Criminal Justice Commission.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of
Oregon:
SECTION
1. (1) The Oregon Criminal
Justice Commission shall conduct a study to determine whether it is possible to
incorporate consideration of reducing criminal conduct and the crime rate into
the commission’s sentencing guidelines and, if it is possible, the means of
doing so. The commission shall, to the greatest extent possible, conduct the
study using commission staff and resources.
(2)
The chairperson of the commission shall establish a committee pursuant to ORS
137.658 to assist the commission in conducting the study required by subsection
(1) of this section.
(3)
The commission shall report the status of the study to the appropriate interim
legislative committee no later than June 30, 2006.
(4) The commission shall submit a final written report on the study containing its findings and recommendations to the Seventy-fourth Legislative Assembly no later than January 15, 2007.
