Chapter 518 Oregon Laws 2005

 

AN ACT

Relating to higher education.

 

Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:

 

          SECTION 1. Section 2 of this 2005 Act is added to and made a part of ORS chapter 341.

 

          SECTION 2. A community college may give credit for education and training obtained by a person while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, as defined in ORS 341.529. The education and training for which credit may be given must meet the standards adopted by the board of education of the community college district.

 

          SECTION 3. A state institution of higher education listed in ORS 352.002 shall give credit for education and training obtained by a person while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, as defined in ORS 351.642. The education and training for which credit may be given must meet the standards adopted by the State Board of Higher Education by rule.

 

          SECTION 4. Section 5 of this 2005 Act is added to and made a part of ORS chapter 353.

 

          SECTION 5. The Oregon Health and Science University shall give credit for education and training obtained by a person while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, as defined in ORS 351.642. The education and training for which credit may be given must meet the standards adopted by the Oregon Health and Science University Board of Directors by rule.

 

          SECTION 6. Sections 1 to 5 of this 2005 Act first apply to the 2006-2007 academic year.
